The Hotel Handyman is responsible for general maintenance of the entire properties, including responding in a timely manner to guest room problems and being assigned to specific projects. The Handyman will understand the importance of working with urgency to accomplish tasks in a timely manner.
Responsibilities
- Take regular action to keep guest room and areas fully operable for guest comfort and safety and the work environment safe for fellow associates
- Use your wits and technical abilities to solve problems and make repairs effectively and efficiently
- Perform routine facilities and grounds preventive maintenance and upkeep
- Respond courteously to employee and guest requests promptly and resolve matters to the employee and guest satisfaction.
- Complete other tasks as assigned.
- Follow established company policies, procedures, and practices to ensure compliance and consistency with all coworkers and Guests.
- Perform basic plumbing repairs.
- Install and repair door hardware and locks.
- Minor painting.
- Remodeling of building as requested.
- Repair broken or damaged fixtures.
- Install tile and other floor coverings.
- Troubleshoot kitchen and laundry equipment problems.
- Routine general maintenance.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience as a Maintenance Technician in a hotel, apartment complex, residential living facility, or similar, REQUIRED
- MUST have a broad base of experience in several areas such as electrical, carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, preventative maintenance, painting/plastering.
- Excellent English verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Must be able to work various shifts per week that may include weekends and being on-call.
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be a team player who works well under pressure, excels at multi-tasking, and operates with a sense of urgency to accomplish all tasks.
- Excellent visual observation abilities with use of independent judgement.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Hearing and visual ability to observe and detect signs of emergency situations.
- Ability to climb stairs, bend, reach above shoulders, kneel, twist, and grip items.
- Ability to sit, stand, and/or walk frequently and for long periods of time.
- Must be able to respond to visual and auditory cues (telephone, radio)
- Ability to push and/or pull equipment weighing up to 150 lbs.
- Ability to lift and carry objects weighing an average of 25-50 pounds.
- Ability to extend arms overhead to perform various technical tasks, and work in confined spaces, under varying temperature extremes.
